This trade shows the Blue Jays are in win now mode. Walker is a rental, as his contract is up after this year. Walker has a five pitch mix, including a fastball, curveball, sinker, cutter and split finger. In addition, Walker is a fastball, cutter and split finger pitcher.
Ross Atkins says of Walker, “He’s got four pitches he’s getting swings and misses with. Another piece to our rotation we’re excited to add.”
In order to make this move possible, the Blue Jays placed Trent Thornton on the 45 day IL. Thornton has been diagnosed with elbow inflammation and is getting a second opinion from Dr Andrews.

Per Ross Atkins, Walker could make his debut as, “early as tomorrow.” The Blue Jays have no starter listed for tomorrow’s game.
