Darius Slayton had a great rookie season with the Giants in 2019 and he is going to make a huge impact on the Giants season.
How Darius Slayton Can Impact the Giants
1. Bring consistency to the Wide Receiver Position
Sterling Shepard, while very skilled, is also very injury prone. Golden Tate is getting old and can be inconsistent at times. The Giants need a consistent wide receiver two.
Enter: Darius Slayton.
Slayton, who went for 740 yards (with a long of 55 yards), 48 receptions, and 8 touchdowns started to prove he could be a consistent pass catcher. Daniel Jones desperately needs that.
2. Play his part
Head coach Joe Judge has made it clear that his top priority will be to run the football. However, there will certainly be situations where they won’t be able to run the football. The end of the game or 3rd down and long are just two examples of this. In these situations, Slayton needs to understand he has to step up and make a big play in order for the Giants to win games because Tate and Shepard might not be able to.
3. Build Chemistry
Even if the Giants finish with a losing record this season, building chemistry and relationships within the young core of offensive players would be a huge upside. Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkely, Evan Engram, and Darius Slayton are all 25 years old or younger. If these players can build chemistry, the 2021 season and beyond looks promising for the New York Giants.
Those are three crucial ways Darius Slayton can impact the Giants.
