Romero vs Echeverry Scheduled for Fury FC 54

Canadian lightweight, Anthony “The Genius” Romero (9-1) is set to take on Texan, Nico Echeverry (11-4) in Houston, Texas. Fury FC is one of the most popular promotions based in Texas and has been used as a stepping stone to the UFC for many fighters including Mana Martinez (9-2) and Fernando Padilla (14-4). The November 21st event is a stacked card finishing with the main event heavyweight championship bout between Juan Adams (8-3) and Austen Lane (9-3).

A Lightweight Battle: Romero to Face Echeverry at Fury FC 54

Romero is coming off a close split decision loss against JJ Okanovich (7-2) at Fury FC 50 in September and a split decision win against Zach “The Juice” Juusola (12-8) at LFA 96 last December.

In 2020, the Niagara Top Team/Aegis MMA athlete put on a dominant performance on Season 4 Week 4 of Dana White’s Contender Series. Romero took the unanimous decision to win over Mike Breeden (10-4) striking “Money” with leg kicks until he could barely stand. Many viewers were surprised when Romero did not walk away with a UFC contract.

Echeverry has back-to-back unanimous decision wins against Kenneth “Backfire” Glen (10-7) at Fury FC 47 in June and Eddie Hoch (11-5) at Fury FC 52 on October 17. The 30-year-old has been fighting for the Fury FC promotion since 2017. The 11 wins on his pro record include 5 decisions, 3 submissions, and 3 TKOs.
