Former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm will return to the Octagon after more than a year and a half away.

Holly Holm (14-5-0, 7-5-0 UFC) will be looking to position herself for another title opportunity when she faces #5 ranked Vieira. After a brief stint in the featherweight division, ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ has won two straight at 135lbs, defeating Raquel Pennington and Irene Aldana. Both of those fights took place in 2020.
Holm was scheduled to face current bantamweight champion Julianna Pena in May, but an injury forced her to withdraw from the bout. She was then scheduled to fight in October, this time against Norma Dumont, but withdrew again due to a knee injury. With nearly a year and a half away from the Octagon, one can only hope we see Holm healthy and rejuvenated in her anticipated return.
Ketlen Vieira (12-2, 6-2-0 UFC) could very well secure a title shot with a win over Holm in May. Vieira is 2-2 in her last four bouts, but a recent win over Miesha Tate has put her into a prime spot. Should she earn a victory over Holm, who is currently ranked #2 in the bantamweight division, ‘Fenomeno’ could lay claim to a shot at UFC gold.
The UFC event scheduled for May 21 has no announced location, venue, or broadcast team. Bouts currently scheduled for the event include:
- Felipe Colares vs. Chase Hooper
- Alexander Gustafsson vs. Ben Rothwell
The card is subject to change, as always.
