When you ask friends or work colleagues what tv show they recommend to watch, the top go-to for most people seem to be Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and even Sons of Anarchy, just to name a few. There is no denying that there are plenty of quality shows out there, so it is hard to choose just one to invest your time in.
But for an MMA fan, there aren’t an abundance of MMA-themed TV shows we can discuss. There is Cobra Kai, the Karate kid spin off show, but that focuses around the art of Karate. It’s easy to say there is not even a debate, simply because there are very few fictional MMA shows. The theme generally centers around reality shows like The Ultimate Fighter and Bully Beatdown.
But that all changed in 2017 when the MMA show “Kingdom” debuted – not to be confused by the other Netflix show Kingdom, starring Ju Ji-Hoon and Bae Doona.
Words can’t describe how let down viewers seemed to be after realizing there weren’t going to be anymore than 3 seasons, and reality and heartbreak fully set in after bingeing through the entire series of this great show only to find out that it was cancelled and wouldn’t make it to a fourth season.
Kingdom stars some great actors like Frank Grillo, Jonathan Tucker and Nick Jonas. Frank Grillo, the marquee named actor, has starred in many high-profile movies like Marvel’s Avengers, the Purge and End of Watch. Grillo, a huge fan of the sport, was perfect casting for the character of Alvey Kulina, a retired mixed martial artist who runs his gym while trying to keep his family together and battle his personal demons, making his whole life come crashing down.

Great Acting and Musical Soundtrack
Kingdom combines not only great acting with MMA, but the soundtrack from bands like Deer Tick and even Chris Stapleton just hits different. As each song flows from your tv, it seems to connect a feeling to the viewer so well that you can’t help yourself finding the song and adding it to your music playlist. The deeper you go into the seasons, some songs will touch you on an emotional level more than others, which is such a great added reason to watch.
It has turned out that Kingdom has been rarely talked about. Some might call it a hidden gem, while others have quite a passionate holding; a strong loyal following getting the show’s name out there online and by word-of-mouth.
Some fans have taken it upon themselves to try and resurrect Kingdom for a fourth season with their petition attempts to get Netflix to notice their cries for their favourite show to return. Even the cast of Kingdom have showed interest on social media and in interviews to revive the show for a fourth season.
Someone dm’ed me earlier and asked what my favorite TV show was. Well I need to share this to spread the word, but it’s easily Kingdom MMA. Watch this show immediately on Netflix. It gets removed off of Netflix on May 1st so watch it and finish it as soon as you can. pic.twitter.com/zcDMqcfTYX

Kingdom Connects With Fans
The fans’ love for the show seems to connect not only to the sport of MMA, but also the real-life scenarios as they present such relatable content and touch on such topics as addiction, family struggles and relationship problems.
Kingdom stays true to MMA with having credible mixed martial artists in it as well having Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson, Juan Archuleta and even shows love to the mixed martial arts ref Mike Beltran.
It has recently been removed from Netflix, but you can watch Kingdom on Peacock. Peacock currently has all 3 seasons of Kingdom available for streaming or can be purchased on Amazon Prime. Don’t be discouraged, the show doesn’t end on a cliff hanger – everything ties nicely together – if the show doesn’t ever happen to be picked up for another season.
