Tyson Fury and Jon Jones Rumors Heat Up

It seems the Tyson Fury vs. Jon Jones Rumors are really starting to heat up in both the boxing and MMA world.

Tyson Fury vs. Jon Jones?

Twitter account- Fight Oracle tweeted last night, "Just ran into the GOAT [Jon Jones] in Atlanta. The talks between him and [Tyson Fury] are very much real. He [Jones] showed me the text messages between them. 1 boxing fight. 1 MMA fight. Jon wants a money fight & has no issues going into the lions den against Tyson in a boxing ring 1st."

Interesting stuff, rumors at the moment with no real confirmation of being true but it’s worth it to keep an eye on especially given what Tyson Fury just said as well.

Tyson Fury said during a Twitter Space earlier today, "I’ve been in talks with Francis Ngannou for a hybrid fight. There’s talks of me and Jon Jones doing a hybrid fight as we talk right now. I received an offer from the UFC yesterday. So you never know what’s going to happen, the future is bright for sure as there’s a lot of options out there. It seems at the moment I’m struggling to get an actual boxing opponent. I think Mauricio Sulaiman the President of the WBC did an interview podcast recently and he said, ‘Tyson is a victim of his own success, he’s that good, people don’t want to fight him, they’d rather fight someone else.’ That’s what I’m experiencing right now. I think I’ve called out everybody in the top 15 in the Heavyweight division in the last six months and I’m still without an opponent as we speak today."

Dana White's Offer

Earlier this month during a UFC Post-Fight Press Conference for UFC Vegas 74, Dana White said, "I"m telling Tyson Fury whom I respect very much, if you really want to find out who the baddest man on the planet is, I will make that fight. I will make Jon Jones vs. Tyson Fury in the Octagon. We"ll figure it out, we figured out how to pay Floyd [Mayweather] (for Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor in 2017), and we"ll figure out how to pay you too, Tyson. The offer is out there if you want to do it in the UFC. I know he [Fury] was messing around with MMA for a little while there. Let"s do it, let"s answer the question. If you want the title of baddest man on the planet, let"s do it, I"m in." White said.

Joe Rogan should be credited for the talk of Jones vs. Fury heating up as Rogan hosted an episode of his podcast with comedian- Andrew Schulz. Rogan theorized who would win between Tyson Fury and Jon Jones, you can read more about that here. There were initial talks of a Fury and Francis Ngannou bout in boxing following Ngannou"s departure from the UFC and Ngannou signed with PFL. In that PFL deal for Ngannou, it was noted that Ngannou was free to pursue a bout in boxing but it seems Jon Jones and Tyson Fury may happen instead. We"ll be sure to watch for any updated news on the potential bouts.
