Breaking News: Sabonis Stays In Indiana

The Pacers had the chance to keep Domantas Sabonis for this season and then make him a restricted free agent. They decided to reward the young big man with a 4 year $74.9M contract. Per his agent Greg Lawrence with bonuses it can reach $85M. This commitment to Sabonis will pair him and Myles Turner together for years to come.

Sabonis in his 3rd season, produced his best numbers yet. In only 24.9 MPG he averaged 14.1 PPG, 9.3 Rebounds, and 2.9 Assists. This season the Pacers plan to expand his role, as he is expected to start at Power Forward along with Myles Turner at Center. I would expect to see them split their minutes on the floor, so plan on seeing him at Center quite a bit this season.

Future For the Pacers

Eventually the Pacers will have the task of signing Victor Oladipo as well, but the Pacers show that they believe in Turner and Sabonis together and have created a nice young nucleus. At 22, 23, 27 years of age, this trio has plenty of basketball left in them.
