Why LA Knight Should Win The MITB

WWE’s Money in the Bank premium live event is this Saturday, July 1st, 2023 at The O2 Arena in London, England. The start time for the event is 3 P.M. EST.

You could make the case that each one of the six competitors in the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match is deserving of winning the match, but not one of them deserves it more than L-A Knight.

Reason #1: Listen to the Crowd

It’s never been truer than right now, the crowd knows what they want. Sure there have been times when the WWE has denied the fans what they wanted and chose to go another route that ultimately paid off but LA Knight has been able to hold the fanbase in the palm of his hand since pretty much day one of coming up to the main roster of the WWE or at least when he returned to his LA Knight character. LA Knight is in that weird but perfect position of neither being a true face nor a heel but just a unique character for fans to be excited for. The kind of gimmicks Knight has been able to pull off and garner so much fanfare proves his value to the WWE and its worldwide collection of fans. Look no further than the pop he received this last Monday night on Raw.

If that’s not proof how about this past Friday Night Smackdown against Rey Mysterio, remember him, one of the most beloved legends in WWE history, yeah, Knight had the fans on his side in that one too.

Reason #2: Think of the Possibilities

Knight has truly shown his range and versatility throughout his career, proving he can be in any situation and make the most of it. Prior to joining the WWE, Knight made a name for himself in promotions such as Impact Wrestling and the NWA, and once he debuted in NXT in 2021, Knight carried over a lot of fanfare with him. Sure, Knight is 40 years old but why should that stop anyone, especially someone like Knight who is a solid in-ring worker, a fantastic promo guy, and a wrestler who the fans always tune in to see?

Look at his initial main roster debut as Max Dupri, manager for the Maximum Male Models, sure, it was met with mixed reactions, but he still managed to entertain and garner the fans’ attention. Knight’s first big program was a rivalry with the returning Bray Wyatt, and although Knight was the supposed heel in that program, he was able to win over half of if not the majority of the fans during the feud. This was the moment Knight certainly got over, as Knight lost to Wyatt at Royal Rumble and still walked away unscathed if not more over in the process. Think about that, Wyatt had returned to WWE late last year after being cut by them in the summer of 2021, and Knight still got over, despite losing to Wyatt. Now think about what he could do with a program with the briefcase.

Reason #3: Look at Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes

When I say look at Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes, what I mean by that is WWE disappointed a lot of fans by having Roman Reigns defeat Zayn at Elimination Chamber in Montreal, and defeat Rhodes at Wrestlemania. This is not a knock on the programs of the respected two nor an indictment of the performers and their matches, as they were all great. Money in the Bank is an opportunity for WWE to not make it three this year.

WWE now has the perfect opportunity as finally, a major title is back on Raw since the WWE draft had the Heavyweight title relinquished by Reigns. That champion is Seth Rollins now, so the WWE can finally run a major title program without involving Reigns and avoid upsetting one side or the other of the WWE fans. Sure, Seth Rollins is very much over with the fans but he’s not the overly protected Reigns and with Rollins set to star in the upcoming Captain America movie and desires of more acting opportunities, the WWE may want to look for a more full-time wrestler to carry that championship.

A win at MITB for Knight would not only be a huge reward for himself but also for the fans as it would be one of the most crowd-pleasing moments in recent years.
